I feel like this place is a hidden gem of Utica. I am in the area for a few days on a project for work. I stopped today for lunch and started searching the area for restaurants and wanted something different and saw the reviews. This place is amazing! May couldn't be sweeter or more welcoming, and the food is outstanding! You absolutely must try her mac and cheese and her Haitian black rice. She is good people and you almost feel like you are walking into someone's home and being invited for dinner instead of going into a restaurant. Do yourself a favor and give this place a try

A Taste of Haiti That Feels Like Home!!!! May’s Kitchen is truly a hidden gem in Utica. From the moment you walk in, the owner, May, makes you feel like family. She is so friendly, welcoming, and hospitable that dining there feels like visiting someone’s home. The atmosphere is cozy and intimate. You feel like you’re sitting in your own living room enjoying a home-cooked meal. The food is absolutely delicious. Every dish is flavorful, authentic, and prepared with so much love. The food is amazing, and the service is equally outstanding. If you’re looking for authentic Haitian food in Utica, you have to try May’s Kitchen. You will not be disappointed. Whatever you purchase, don’t forget to top it off with a glass of their passion fruit juice. It’s the perfect finishing touch to an unforgettable meal. DELICIOUS FOOD!!! I was sent to Utica for a work trip. A colleague let me know that there is a Haitian restaurant in the area after sharing with her that I’m Haitian. Haitian restaurants are scarce in the upstate New York area, so I was very excited to support a fellow Haitian. Upon entering the restaurant, I received such a warm welcome from the owner, May. It was like I knew her from somewhere. While I was there, I saw people from the neighborhood coming in and out to order food and she knew many of them by name- and was so kind to them. The restaurant is nice and CLEAN; you can tell that she is intentional about keeping the place in tact. On to the FOOD. ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! This is true Haitian Cuisine. Seasoned to perfection, full of flavor, and very good portions given too! I definitely recommend trying this place, you won’t be disappointed. And don’t worry if you’re a vegetarian, there are options for you too! 😊

The Owner is such a beautiful soul! The place is very clean, welcoming, great atmosphere! Then you realize the food matches the rest! So good!! Don’t let the neighborhood scares you off, completely different vibe inside. It’s a MUST TRY! Trust me!!! I would added a picture of my food, but I didn’t want to put the fork down lol

I cannot believe how AMAZING the food is. I’m only in Utica for a few days & this is my second time ordering from here. (I’ll be back tomorrow). I was raised in Haiti & I’m so picky about how the food is supposed to taste & listen to me…THIS IS IT! 100000/10. The flavors are perfect. & the owner is the sweetest & most hospitable person ever. I highly recommend this restaurant. There’s flavor for everyone ! Love love love.
